Digital Modeling
ROOM
PART 2: CHECKPOINT#1
For Part 2 of the room, I finally able to UV all of the furniture and props. Once I'm done with those I begin to texture them. But the difficult part was in Unity, especially when it comes to lighting. When I add point lights to the scene, they seem to flicker, especially when I have all 8 of them. It was at the point where I had to look up what was wrong with it and found a simple explanation and luckily got it fixed. I also had trouble with the turntable animation as well. Instead of the room spinning, the room appeared to be orbiting around an invisible force. Luckily I had that fixed once I found out the fact that I animated the empty object instead of the scene itself. For the windows, I simply reduce the roughness on the glass to make it more reflective and look to be window.
CHECKPOINT #4
In this final checkpoint, I finally not only added two models, but also improved the walls as well, meaning I finally caught up to where I'm supposed to be at. So far this week, I've been UVing most of the furniture and manage to get half way done. I had also rearrange the desk and chair in front of the windows instead. Now I planned to have both walls between the bed to be made up of windows and the bedroom door would appear in front of the bed as well. By this week, I'll finished off the remaining UVs and texture them in substance painter.
CHECKPOINT #3
I had a lot of trouble over the weekend, trying to get the chair just right. However, modeling it using the reference that I picked up is too difficult to do. Because of it, I moved on to a new chair which actually blends in with most of the furniture, especially the legs. So modeling the chair now is much more simple and look pretty pleasing to see. After that, I added in nCloths with the blanket and the cushion on the chair. Unfortunately, I learned that I'm supposed to have separate walls, windows, and corners, meaning I accidentally created these walls into the cube. So hopefully by the final checkpoint, I'll be able to fix it.
CHECKPOINT #2
After knowing where to put my furniture, I start modeling each of them. I first begin to model the simple furniture. I started off with the glass windows, which is easy enough. I then worked on the lamp as well, which is a little bit difficult due to how to work out the lamp cover. I finally then finished off with the wall shelf. The bed was surprisingly simple as I thought it would be, however I'm still missing the pillows and the blanket so I plan to model them as well. The dresser is complicated to model, mostly where it is positioned. Because of that, it is difficult to place some doors and handles in the right direction, so most of the time I had to eyeball it. For the desk, I have problems in the beginning because of how difficult supports are. So much so, I had to find a reference for an easier desk to model. Luckily, it is similar to the one I had before. After I finished the furniture, I then model the ceiling lights as well. As of now, I have done most of the models, all I need is to model the chair, the picture frames, the pillows, and the blanket.
And here's the reference image with added references.
PART 1: CHECKPOINT #1
For this, I plan to design a modern bedroom with a balcony you can be able to see from the glass windows and door. Starting off, I look for references to help me create the room. I would look for furniture that fit into the world that I have the room in. I choose the furniture that not only look simplistic but also that are not too easy to model.
After I got all my reference images, I started making a blockout. I start placing blocks around my room I created and resize them to represent what they're gonna become.
